Bafana Bafana is back in the big-time
Bafana opens up Group E against the Malian Eagles on Tuesday 16 January at 22:00 local time. The other sides in Group E are Namibia and Tunisia. According to FIFA, Mali is ranked 51st in the world, while South Africa is 66th. Mali star Moussa Doumbia Moussa has assisted Mali’s last three goals scored in open play at the Africa Cup of Nations and scored six goals for the Mali national team, more than any other player in the squad for the tournament.

It’s been a while at AFCON
This is South Africa’s 11th participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, and their first since 2019. Their only AFCON title dates back to 1996 when they won as hosts.
