Bafana Bafana will next be in action when they take part in World Cup qualifying matches in June.

Fifa has not alloted any international windows to the months of April and May in 2024 with major domestic seasons coming to a head.

When do Bafana Bafana play another match?

Bafana Bafana are scheduled to face Nigeria away on 3 June with the venue yet to be confirmed by the hosts.

One week later on 10 June, South Africa host Zimbabwe in a matchday four Fifa World Cup qualifying engagement.

There are three international windows in the second half of 2024 with the potential to stage up to six Bafana Bafana friendly matches in that time.

The windows are from 4-12 September, 9-17 October and 13-21 November.

Hugo Broos to remain at the helm

Hugo Broos has confirmed that he will remain at the helm of the team.

He also rubbished reports that he was in talks for a job in Tunisia.

“There is no contact between me and the Tunisian federation. If I believe the Tunisian media, I am a candidate. If I leave South Africa, the federation will decide, for me, it’s just rumours,” Broos said, as quoted by iDiski Times.

“There’s no contact or discussion between me and Tunisia. It’s just the rumour. I’m one of the candidates according to Tunisian media, but it’s not official.

“I’m with Bafana Bafana in June. I depend on the federation [SAFA].”

Broos believes that he is making progress with this team and is upbeat about their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

“We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and that of Algeria,” Broos said after the 3-3 draw against Algeria.

“That means we have progressed. We have shown at the Afcon and today again. I think we don’t have to be afraid of any team in Africa any more.”

Confidence is the key

Broos did not want to do anything that would take away from the returning swagger of Bafana Bafana.

“The team is confident, and that’s what I saw as well at Afcon. It’s a team, both on and off the pitch,” Broos said as per IOL.

“And that is very important, because there are 23 players in the team, but only 11 can play. You see the guys on the bench who are supportive of the ones playing.

“So, that’s really a good thing because as the coach, you can only be happy. But they’ve also shown on the pitch that they are a team.

“Everyone is doing their job – they have a good mentality, and everyone is good. So again, we made some good progress.”
