SABC secures Afcon broadcasting rights after SuperSport fumbles

SABC Sport will be offering its audiences and commercial partners the live experience of all the 52 matches of Afcon 2023.

SABC fails to secure Banyana Banyana rights.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will broadcast every game at the upcoming 2023 African Cupof Nations( Afcon) after securing the rights.

This comes days after Multichoice announced that SuperSport TV failed to secure rights to air the continental tournament.

“SABC is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 broadcasting rights and the rest of CAF events for the 2024 season,” the statement read.

“With the local PSL season taking a break for the next six weeks, SABC Sport will be offering its audiences and commercial partners the live experience of all the 52 matches of Afcon 2023, in which the South African national team, Bafana Bafana will also be participating.”

“In addition, SABC Sport has also acquired the live matches to the rest of the Caf events, which includes all 150 matches of the 2025 Afcon qualifiers, all the 32 matches of 2024 Chan, all matches of 2023/24 Caf Champions League, all matches of 2023/24 Caf Confederations Cup, all the matches of 2024 Caf Africa Women Cup of Nations, all matches of 2024 Caf Women’s Champions League and all the matches of 2024 Caf Super Cup,” said Sabc.
