Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos slams ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom.

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has explained why he dropped former Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom.

The Belgian mentor claims Blom doesn’t have the right attitude and is the reason he was left out of the Bafana Bafana 23-men squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Bafana have so far beaten Benin and will face Rwanda away on Tuesday.

Broos selected the Louis City SC star last month when Bafana played Eswatini and Cote d’Ivoire.

Last week, Broos was asked why Blom was not selected in the 23-men squad.

“You know Njabulo Blom is not there at the moment. He sent a message on Monday saying that he was injured on his shoulder and he couldn’t come to camp,” Broos explained last week as per FARPost.

“We asked for a medical report and now we didn’t receive it. We received a message three days later that he can play. I don’t think that is the right attitude and the right mindset to come to a national team.

“I’m very sorry, this is not the first time. This is not the right attitude, I find. Players, when you hear them talking, you hear about the hunger to play for the national team, it’s up to you to think what attitude is that and therefore I didn’t select him,” Broos was quoted on FARPost.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player is now in danger of missing out on next year’s African Cup of Nations.
