“It was certainly a special experience winning a big tournament, but winning it in Africa, it is a total different mentality and I had to learn and know. And for me, it was a fantastic experience winning it five, six years ago. And if you ask me do I want to do it again, sure I want to do it again,” Broos was quoted on IOL.

Bafana are unlikely to win the Afcon tournament this year but could cause an upset or two if they play at their best. Broos said it was too soon to rate his team’s chances of lifting the cup they last won in 1996.

“Maybe it’s too soon, but I have a feeling that the players want to start training and prepare for Afcon and I have a good feeling about that. I think that the four days that the players have been off has been very good. A lot of players were exhausted after the last game and they needed time off with family, not thinking about football,” said Broos.
