Bafana Bafana have a chance to reach the African Cup of Nations(Afcon) semi-finals for the first time in 24 years when they play Cape Verde.

In their way stands a very good team that is yet to lose a game at the Afcon games.

The Blue Sharks have been one of the best teams in the tournament so far and are more than capable of thrashing Bafana on their day.

On paper, many will favour South Africa to come out victorious but one should remember that Bubista’s men are unbeaten against the 1996 Afcon champions in three competitive matches.

Bafana had to overcome tournament favourites Morocco in the round of 16, so losing to Cape Verde will be a step backwards for Hugo Broos’ charges.

The nation is again getting behind the national soccer team, and this support hasn’t been seen since 2013 when they hosted the continental tournament.

Bafana vs Cape Verde a MUST WATCH

Saturday’s game will indicate where Bafana and Broos are going and what the future holds for the national team.

Cape Verde coach Bubista has made it clear that his side are not scared of Bafana.

“For us to reach the semi-final, we need to work good as a team, united as a team, we can only win if we work together as a team, we have a good mindset in the squad, good morale, we have the support too and because of that we’ll do all we can to bring more joy to the country,” he said ahead Saturday’s quarter-final clash.

Bubista knows his team has overachieved so far but at the same time, he is aware that Cape Verde are playing without pressure.

“No we’re not scared, we’re not scared at all, there’s no fear, we have the experience to understand it’s a match and of course, we’ve played South Africa before, and defeated them.”.

“South Africa have beaten us more than once too, so we’re confident of a good match, so no fear if we have the desire to play and show the joy of giving more to our people, it will help us,” said the Cape Verde coach.

Many African football fans want Bafana to beat the Blue Sharks and meet Nigeria in the semis.
