Bafana legend and record goalscorer Benni McCarthy has sent a message to the AFCON class of 2024 as they prepare for a titanic tussle with Nigeria.

Benni McCarthy knows a thing or two about winning
In 2004, Benni became the first and only South African to win the UEFA Champions League when he did so with FC Porto under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. The Man United first-team coach spoke to Rob Delport of iDiski Times ahead of Bafana’s massive clash with Nigeria.
He has sent a message to Hugo Broos’ Bafana hopefuls who are one match away from the Africa Cup of Nations final.
“Rob, my message to Bafana is simple,” McCarthy told iDiski Times.
“All the best for the game, every single South African is behind them and wants them to give it their all.
“You’ve made us very proud so far, now go and give it all you got and an AFCON final place awaits you!
“Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie.”

Bafana Bafana might need Williams to be on top form
Ronwen Williams made history with his penalty-shootout heroics against Cape Verde. The Sundowns man saved four spot-kicks to see Bafana through to this stage. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Chippa United keeper Stanley Nwabili (a rumoured target for Kaizer Chiefs), has kept four clean sheets in the tournament. The Super Eagles haven’t conceded since the tournament’s opening day in a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea. Williams himself has kept three shutouts. Needless to say, a single goal could sway this grand occasion.
