The 2024 edition of the Varsity Cup is in full swing with Round 5 having taken place on Monday, 18 March.

Due to lightning and severe weather conditions in the first half at UJ Stadium the match between UJ and defending champions NWU Eagles was called off and will be replayed on Tuesday, 19 March at 10:00.

The stadium will be closed to spectators.

In matches that were completed on Monday, Wits scored a converted try after the final hooter to draw 33-all against UCT Ikeys, while Maties ran rampant in thrashing UWC 63-14 away from home.

UFS Shimlas continue to lead the way atop the standings after their impressive 49-30 win over CUT, also on the road.

UFS Shimlas lead the way on 22 log points with Maties (18 points) and UCT Ikeys (17 points) in second and third places.

NWU Eagles round out the top four places on 15 points, but could jump as high as second with a win over UJ as the battle for semi-final spots heats up.

At the bottom of the log UWC (1 points) and UJ (3 points) remain winless.
