The Sharks have struggled to get over the line at Loftus in recent times with the Bulls making the venue their fortress.

The Sharks haven’t beaten the Bulls at Loftus Versveld in Super Rugby since 2011, the venue has also been the scene of several heartbreaking moments for the Durbanites.
Last time out the Sharks managed to score 33 points at the famous Pretoria venue but were outgunned by a Bulls side that ran in five tries and tallied 39 points.

In 2016 the Sharks came agonizingly close to ending their barren run at Loftus but Joe Pietersen missed a penalty after the hooter leaving the scores tied between the fierce rivals.
In 2015 The Bulls came away with the spoils in another high-scoring contest as they ran out 43-35 winners, though a late try for the Bulls put a little extra gloss on the win for the hosts.
In 2014 the Bulls stopped an in-form Sharks outfit at Loftus, scoring a 23-19 win to hand the black and white dynamite their first defeat of the campaign.
The Bulls may have just snuck their 2013 victory 20-19 but in a derby this intense one point is as good as one hundred and only the result really matters.
In 2012 the Bulls would grind down the visitors in a forward battle that the home side would ultimately win by 18-13. It wasn’t a classic game but it serves as an example of how tough these matches can be. Morne Steyn’s boot was the difference between the two sides.
The Sharks last triumph at Loftus was an epic one as the boys from Durban picked up a famous win inspired by French flyhalf Freddie Michalak. The Sharks won 26-23 to clinch a semi-final place in the 2011 competition.
