Springboks: Rugby World Cup winner BANNED for FOUR years!

One of the Springboks have just been dished out a four-year ban from rugby. This is certainly not the way this player wanted to kick-off his year.

Elton Jantjies has copped a four-year ban from rugby after testing positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol, according to SARugbyMag.

Ultimately, this will likely spell the end of his Springboks career given his age (33) and the length of this ban.

Jantjies tested positive for the banned substance back in August 2023.

Furthermore, he is unlikely to represent South Africa again since he will be 37 when the ban ends. This is well past a rugby players prime. Especially, as a a backline player.

He has the opportunity to appeal the ban.

However, the outcome is unlikely to change. Rugby has a zero tolerance policy towards performance-enhancing substances that are not natural. Therefore, we have probably seen the last of Gantries in the green and gold.

STORIED CAREER OF JANTJIES

Gantries has a truly stories and at times, controversial, SA Rugby career.

He is a 2019 Rugby World Cup winner and he was also named SA Super Rugby Player of the Decade in 2020. Moreover, he earned 46 international test caps for the Springboks, scoring 335 points. The latter stages of his career have been filled with drama with Jantjies involved in a scandal with Zeenat Simjee, a flight incident and finally, testing positive for the banned substance.
