As the 14 players present at the Springbok training camp in Cape Town wrap up their activities in Stellenbosch on Friday, another eight will come into the mix for a key series of alignment sessions.

As the initial group returns to their franchises following an eight-week regeneration block, which included a four-week rest period and another four-week rugby and physical development block, another notable group of players will be brought up to speed.

This group notably includes Joseph Dweba (hooker), Deon Fourie (utility forward), Marco van Staden (flanker), Evan Roos (No 8), Herschel Jantjies and Grant Williams (scrumhalves), Manie Libbok (flyhalf) and Sbu Nkosi (wing) – who will be involved in two days of off-field sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

There aren’t too many surprises that these players are in the Springbok mix, but it’s certainly notable that the national coaches are keeping Nkosi in the reckoning.

The 27-year-old has only just returned to the Bulls after taking an extended mental health break, but his quick return to form has been rewarded with a call-up by the Boks.
