Who does AI predict will win the Rugby World Cup?

There are numerous opinions as to how the Rugby World Cup might play out, including a prediction from Artificial Intelligence (AI).

By the end of this weekend, we will know which four sides remain in the running for the Rugby World Cup title, while at least two teams in the top four of the world rankings will be sent packing.

There are numerous predictions about how things could pan out, with one of the most left-field ‘views’ coming from an ‘AI Supercomputer’, which apparently takes recent form, historical success, and other factors into play.

Notably, there is very little to choose between Ireland, France and South Africa when it comes to the tournament predictor for win percentage, while New Zealand are not far behind those three.

Wales, England, Argentina and Fiji are given little chance.

This weekend, the Springboks will face off against host nation France, while the world’s number-one-ranked side Ireland take on three-time champions New Zealand at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

At Stade de Marseille, Pool C winners Wales will play Argentina after Los Pumas’ crucial victory against Japan in Nantes. At the same venue, Pool D winners England will play Fiji, who are set to compete in the knock-out stages of the World Cup for the first time since 2007.
