KES Easter Festival wrap (Day 1): Paarl Boys’ smash Selborne, rampant hosts go big

Paarl Boys’ overcame a stressful and traumatic few days to ruthlessly dispatch Selborne on the opening day of the 2023 KES Easter Festival on Thursday.

Plenty of tries and big scores were the order of the day as several teams laid down a marker with statement performances.

Despite having to deal with witnessing the traumatic experience of their teammate Chris Jordaan’s horrific on-field injury and subsequent hospitalisation, the Paarl Boys’ team were at their ruthless best as they ran in seven tries to crush Selborne 48-5.

Boys’ High trailed Selborne 5-3 at the break, but went on a rampage in the second half to take the wind out of Selborne’s sails.

Meanwhile, KES had their home crowd in raptures as they demolished Hudson Park 55-12.

Elsewhere, Queen’s also ran riot as they thrashed Diamantveld 40-21, Nico Malan hammered St David’s 46-11, Eldoraigne blanked Parktown 38-0 and Northwood beat Ben Vorster 31-15.
