Lions welcome back Wandisile Simelane for Bulls clash

The Lions have named their team to face the Bulls in the Currie Cup on Sunday, with Wandisile Simelane returning from Springbok duty.

Simelane, the only Lions player called up to the Springbok squad, somewhat surprisingly slots into the team at fullback, allowing Manuel Rass to continue his run at outside centre. 

Rabz Maxwane and the experienced Courtnall Skosan are out on the wings for the Lions, while Rass is partnered in midfield by Dan Kriel.

The Lions have unearthed an exciting talent in Jordan Hendrikse, but the youngster will have his hands full playing opposite Johan Goosen, who pulled the strings in the Bulls victory over South Africa ‘A’.

Andre Warner will be tasked with giving Hendrikse the service he needs to play the Lions way, behind a pack that also has their work cut out for them.

Skipper Francke Horne will start in the number 8 jersey with Vincent Tshituka and Roelof Smit, completing the starting loose trio.

FP Pelser and Ruben Schoeman start in the second row behind the front row of Carlu Sadie, PJ Botha and Ruan Dreyer.

The Currie Cup Round 6 match between the Bulls and the Lions will kick off at 15:15 at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday 25 July 2021.
