Midweek PSL action sees Mamelodi Sundowns play tourists as they travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to take on Polokwane City on Tuesday night.

The eight-time champions kicked off their title defence in what was not the most ideal fashion as they fell behind inside the first ten minutes of the 2018/19 season before equalising to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

They will fancy their chances of grabbing maximum points this time around against a side that fell to a 1-0 defeat against newly-promoted Black Leopards at the same venue used for Tuesday’s fixture.

Teams

Mamelodi Sundowns have continued their spending spree, following the departure of star striker Percy Tau, who made a big-money move to English Premier League outfit, Brighton and Hove Albion, and have recently brought in defender Mosa Lebusa from Ajax Cape Town, as well as Bafana goalkeeper Reeyad Pieterse, who joined from Supersport United.

This took their signings in the transfer window so far to seven, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of what promises to be a congested schedule, featuring CAF Champions League duties.

For Polokwane City, new coach Jozef Vukuzic will be keen to get the fans on his side as quickly as possible, and a win against the Pretoria giants will do just that as Rise and Shine will be aiming for more than just survival in the PSL.

Polokwane City vs Mamelodi Sundowns: Head to head

Despite what was a generally dominant campaign, Mamelodi Sundowns could not manage a win over Polokwane City last season, as the Limpopo outfit managed to pull off a league double over their more fancied opponents.

Pitso Mosimane’s charges last registered a win over Rise and Shine way back in November 2016, but are however the more dominant side as far as head to head results are concerned, with five league wins overall in 10 matches, while City have managed three victories in clashes between these two sides.

Kick off: 19:30

TV and live stream: The match will be broadcast live on Supersport 11.
