‘Don’t come back to South Africa’: Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been receiving threats for him not to come back to Mzansi.

Nigerian Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali is allegedly receiving threats not to return to South Africa, claimed former Nigerian Player, Idah Peterside in a video shared on X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter) – this comes after the Super Eagles beat Bafana Bafana in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals match on Wednesday, 7 February.

NIGERIAN GOALKEEPER THREATENED NOT TO RETURN TO SA?

Nigeria beat South Africa 4-2 in penalties. They are now set to face Ivory Coast in the final on Sunday. In a recently posted clip, former Nigerian Player, Idah Peterside claimed that the Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been receiving threats for him not to come back to South Africa.

“The biggest problem we’ve had is we have gotten some messages where people have sent messages to the goalkeeper threatening him. I heard some people have said ‘Don’t come back to South Africa, ‘You didn’t want us to score’, ‘Stay back where your team is playing’. It’s unacceptable,” Peterside said.

He then admitted that he hasn’t been informed of any violent acts, just the threats as yet. “They have been threatening him and threatening some people, but I have haven’t seen any violence,” Peterside added.

STANLEY NWABALI CONGRATULATED BY CHIPPA UNITED

Meanwhile, South African club Chippa United has come out to congratulate their player Stanley Nwabali for qualifying for the AFCON final as seen in a statement released on Thursday.

“The club wishes to extent its congratulations to Stanley Nwabali for his extraordinary achievement in the AFCON 2023 finals and for also earning The Man of The Match award,” the statement read.
