Saaiman had been scheduled to face Christian Rodriguez on 8 July 2023 at UFC 290. However, Rodriguez pulled out in late June due to injury and being replaced by promotional newcomer and former The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions cast member Terrence Mitchell. Saaiman won that fight via TKO in the first round.

Rodriguez is seen as something of a step up for Saaiman, but it might be argued that the South African has edged ahead in esteem in the promotion.

UFC are yet to confirm the fight but insider reports suggest it is highly likely.
