Mamelodi Sundowns v Bloemfontein Celtic: Preview, head to head, staring XI, kick off and live stream

Two teams in really good form meet on Saturday as log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns host surprise package Bloemfontein Celtic at Loftus Versfeld.

The visitors sit fourth on the table and a win for them in Pretoria will see them leapfrog Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs into second place, putting them just three points behind their opponents.

Celtic have had a decent run of form which saw them fall just short of silverware as they were beaten in the final of the Telkom Knockout.

Their last outing in league action was a convincing 3-0 victory against rivals Free State Stars and they have claimed some big scalps in the dangerous Maritzburg United as well Cape Town City in their own turf.

Sundowns are undoubtedly favourites to walk away with the title as another three points on Saturday will see them stretch the gap at the top of the table to an intimidating eight points. This would render them almost unassailable considering how timid the challenge for the title has been this season.

A narrow win against Maritzburg United on Wednesday gave them their fifth win in their last six matches, in a period where they have only conceded a solitary goal which came via a set piece. Testament to how solid they have been at the back.

Head to head

Celtic have in the past inflicted some memorable away victories over their opponents in rather emphatic fashion, thumping them 5-0 in the 2014/15 season and also following that up with a 3-1 win the following season.

Overall it has been Sundowns who have dominated clashes between these two sides, winning nine of their last 16 league encounters, while the visitors only have three wins to show.
