Cape Town City are back in more familiar territory as they host AmaZulu at Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.

The home side sits at eighth place on the table but so tight is the race, they have an opportunity to shoot up all the way to second if they manage maximum points.

Form guide

They will be looking to get over the disappointing result from their last outing where, after leading for much of the game, they conceded late to allow Supersport United to claim a share of the spoils as the game ended 1-1.

Coach Benni McCarthy has had to learn some tough lessons in his first assignment at the helm of a top flight club as his side started the season looking as if they would run away with the league only to fall on hard times, winning just one out of their last six matches.

As has been somewhat of the theme this season for most clubs, AmaZulu are currently enduring a winless streak where they have drawn all of their last four fixtures.

They come off a draw away against Orlando Pirates in their last outing and currently sit low down at 12th on the table. Their last win came all the way back in October when they came from a goal down to upset current log leaders and favourites for the title Mamelodi Sundowns.

Head to head

With this being Cape Town City’s second season in the top flight and AmaZulu’s first back in the fold after spending time in the first division, this will be the first ever meeting between these two sides.

Starting XI

Cape Town City – TBA

AmaZulu – TBA

Kick off and live stream

The game starts at 18:00 and will be broadcast on Supersport 4 (SS4).
