New Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango addresses struggles and pressure he faces at Naturena, saying he is thriving in a new environment.

Msimango joined Chiefs from TS Galaxy but he has done exceptionally well since his arrival as he formed a solid partnership with Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

Speaking ahead of their clash against Royal AM in the DStv Premiership this coming weekend, Msimango said he struggled to settle in under coach Molefi Ntseki.

CHIEFS DEFENDER ADDRESSES STRUGGLES AND PRESSURE

The Bafana Bafana and Chiefs centre-back, Msimango reveals he had to apply professional conduct for him to ensure he has a smooth transition.

Responding to the media, the 26-year-old will be key as Chiefs and Ntseki are looking to secure their third straight league win against Thwihli Thwahla.

“It hasn’t been an easy one honestly,” Msimango told reporters per Phakaaathi.

“I have had to apply myself professionally and understand that this is a different, high-pressure environment.

“It is very competitive, you have to understand all these things on a daily basis, pick up your game, and always be on top of it. For me, it has…been a difficult adjustment but from what I am hearing I have been doing well.”

CHIEFS DEFENDER ADDRESSES BAFANA AND AFCON AMBITIONS

The talented Chiefs defender was part of coach Hugo Broos’ preliminary squad ahead of clashes against Namibia and DR Congo, but Msimango failed to make the cut.

In his final 23-man squad, Broos shocked many when he didn’t include Chiefs players, saying there was no better player at Naturena.

The controversial statement led to Ntseki’s response as he said ‘if he Broos is happy not to choose Chiefs players’, it was still okay for him.

However, in a twist of events, the Belgian decided to invite midfielder Pule Mmodi into camp and Msimango is confident he can be part of the AFCON squad.

“There are five months to the Afcon and it is about the performances you put in. You cannot fool the South African population, they love the game. That is what I am focusing on (my performances),” he added.
