The Proteas suffered a shocking 38 run defeat against the Netherlands on Tuesday.

A poor bowling performance saw South Africa give away 32 extras to see the Dutch post a commanding score of 245 in 43 overs.

The day began with a two-hour delay due to rain which saw the match trimmed down to 43 overs each.

Proteas run chase started slow but kept wickets in hand in the first six overs. After Quinton de Kock was dismissed, wickets fell at regular intervals, with the Dutch bowlers ‘suffocating’ the South African batsmen.

David Miller came into the crease after just 11 overs. The 34-year-old big hitter played some good shots but never looked too comfortable.

He was eventually bowled out by Logan van Beek for 43 with the Proteas still needing 101 runs.

South Africa’s long tail as expected, failed to bail the batters, and one by one, they fell to the ruthless Dutch bowling attack.
