Ajax Cape Town’s acceptance of their fate might have given the impression that the PSL’s legal troubles were now a thing of the past, but AmaZulu is now crying foul over the club’s league positioning from the previous league campaign.

According to TimesLive, Usuthu is planning to approach the South Gauteng High Court on Tuesday to interdict the start of the MTN8, which begins this Saturday.

Why is AmaZulu trying to halt the MTN8?

The KZN outfit the second biggest losers after Ajax were sanctioned for fielding Tendai Ndoro who was ineligible, having turned out for two other teams during the course of the 2017/18 season.

The Urban Warriors had points docked for their troubles, to the benefit of their opponents in the games in question, which saw Supersport United bump AmaZulu out of the top half of the table.

This meant that Usuthu – at ninth place – would not participate in the MTN8.

What will a successful interdict mean for the PSL?

Firstly, it would mean that the club gets another weekend’s rest as the quarterfinal fixtures scheduled for the weekend would not take place.

There could also be the possibility of more legal battles springing up, as Supersport United would end up losing out on their top-eight spot, which they are unlikely to take lying down.

Ajax Cape Town could also revive their challenge against their relegation as they might just see it possible to have their fortunes reversed should AmaZulu’s retain their top-eight position.

The PSL itself could bring forward appeal its appeal against Judge Denise Fisher’s ruling, which set aside the arbitration of Advocate William Mokhari, who handed down the sanction which now sees Ajax playing in the National First Division.

AmaZulu’s challenge could see the League plunged into crisis, as the legal wrangling is likely to go on for months.
