A 31-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run accident that killed the young model Olivia Sieff (18). outside a nightclub in Cape Town.
The accident happened during the early hours of Sunday, 30 January 2022.
Police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk said the woman was arrested on a culpable homicide charge on Tuesday.
“The woman’s car was identified through the surveillance footage as the car that was involved in the hit-and-run accident,” he said.
According to Van Wyk the woman made an confession and will appear in the Wynberg Court soon.
It’s understood Sieff, who recently matriculated, was leaving the Claremont night-spot of Tin Roof when this tragic accident happened.
It is believed some of her friends allegedly witnessed the horrifying accident.
Social has been flooded with tributes for the vibrant young model.
Boss Models, the agency that Olivia Sieff had been signed to, expressed their condolences on Monday morning. They paid tribute to a ‘vibrant light’, asserting she would be ‘deeply missed’.
“Rest easy, beautiful soul. A vibrant light tragically taken from this world too soon. Sending our most heartfelt sympathy to Olivia’s friends and family. You will be deeply missed.”
Meanwhile, the Herschel Girls School held a gathering with fellow matriculants of Sieff in honor of her.
