Joburg mayor Kabelo Gwamanda says the name change is an assurance that current and future generations know of the struggle stelwart and of the country’s history.

“Its about building a resilient future where our past is never forgotten. This is the step towards dismantling the remnants of oppression.” says Gwamanda

“My role is to ensure that we never forget who we are and where we come from”, the mayor adds.
