Cape Town, you’ve done it again! Another local favourite has been named as a ‘world-beater’ – and this exclusive pool is right on the doorstep.

Earlier this week, we were left breathless at the sight of a ‘sky pool’ dangling above London high-rises, connecting two ten-story buildings. However, that all seemed a bit TOO much. Swimming has to be jeopardy-free, and you’d be better off visiting The Silo Hotel in Cape Town – which is now OFFICIALLY home to one of the best pools in the world.

Cape Town pool named ‘third-best’ on the planet

That’s according to leisure specialists Big 7 Travel. As one of the leading authorities on holiday hot-spots, the group are no strangers to South Africa – and they’ve previously named Mzansi as one of the most ‘Instagrammable’ places on Earth. Indeed, anyone hitting the rooftop pool at The Silo should probably prepare to take a dazzling snap or two.

The luxury swimming hole finished third on the list of 25 immaculate competitors, beaten only by pools in Western Australia and Italy’s Lake Como. Fourth on the list is Tanzania’s Serengeti-based Four Seasons Safari Lodge, and the Hotel de Cap-Eden-Roc piscine in France completes the top five.

Cape Town’s entry, however, had one stunning ace up its sleeve…

The Silo Hotel’s rooftop rewarded for its views

Views of Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean, and the gorgeous city skyline all went in favour of The Silo Hotel. Its top floor terrace provides ‘mesmerising’ views of the sunset, and in such an opulent venue, the scenery ensures that all visitors end up getting their money’s worth. Melanie May, who composed the list, made her adoration clear:

Located in Cape Town on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, The Silo Hotel occupies the grain elevator portion of a historic grain silo complex above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). The hotel bills itself as ‘a celebration of art, style, architecture and design’.

“Its spectacular rooftop pool has glass sides and unrivalled views of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head as well as the Atlantic Ocean and city skyline. Sunsets from here are mesmerising and memorable.” | Melanie May, Big 7 Travel
