Johannesburg Water has postponed a water shutdown that would have affected parts of the south of Joburg today, Monday, 21 August.

WHY THE PLANNED WATER SHUTDOWN WAS POSTPONED

A brief update from Johannesburg Water did little to inform the reason behind the postponement and no further date was communicated.

“Please note that the planned interruption below has been postponed. A new date will be communicated.”

The planned water interruption was expected to affect Lanseria, Lanseria South, Anchorvillem Zakariyya Park, Vlakfontein, Finetown and Ennerdale South, including extensions.

Johannesburg Water had notified that all streets in the listed areas would be affected.

JOHANNESBURG WATER NEEDED TO DO MAINTENANCE WORK

Maintenance work required on the bulk pipeline to ensure water supply, was the reason for the planned outage. Water tankers were promised if the shutdown exceeds 24 hours.

JOBURG BUS FACES LIMITATIONS DUE TO FLEET SHORTAGE

Meanwhile, Rea Vaya Bus transit has cautioned commuters about the shortage of its fleets.

This is due to repairs and maintenance to minimise breakdowns on the roads.

“Rea Vaya buses are operating. However, we are still operating with a shortage of buses due to repairs and maintenance,” Rea Vaya Bus transit confirmed on Twitter.

“We are working to resolve the problems,” Rea Vaya reaffirmed the commuters.

“Please use this platform if you experience service operation challenges,” the entity advised its passengers.
