Another WATER SHUTDOWN to plague parts of Joburg next week

Johannesburg Water issued the water shutdown notice on social media to alert residents living in the affected areas to brace themselves.

Another water shutdown notice has been issued by Johannesburg Water, this time targeting suburbs in the south of Joburg next week.

THE DATE AND AREAS FOR THE PLANNED WATER SHUTDOWN

The Johannesburg Water issued the water shutdown notice on social media to alert residents living in the affected areas to brace themselves for taps running dry on Monday, 21 August.

The planned water interruption is expected to affect Lanseria, Lanseria South, Anchorvillem Zakariyya Park, Vlakfontein, Finetown and Ennerdale South, including extensions.

Johannesburg Water notified that all streets in the listed areas will be affected.

Maintenance work required on the bulk pipeline to ensure water supply, the reason for the planned shutdown which will take effect from 8am to 6pm.

“Water tankers will be provided if the shutdown exceeds 24 hours.”

JOBURG BUS FACES LIMITATIONS DUE TO FLEET SHORTAGE

Meanwhile, Rea Vaya Bus transit has cautioned commuters about the shortage of its fleets.

This is due to repairs and maintenance to minimise breakdowns on the roads.

“Rea Vaya buses are operating. However, we are still operating with a shortage of buses due to repairs and maintenance,” Rea Vaya Bus transit confirmed on Twitter.

“We are working to resolve the problems.”Rea Vaya reaffirmed the commuters.

“Please use this platform if you experience service operation challenges,” the entity advised its passengers.

THE HISTORY OF THIS BUS TRANSIT IN JOBURG

The Rea Vaya bus network was introduced in 2009 as a new transport network that hopes to connect parts of the city that were previously difficult to navigate with the existing public transport systems

The network is particularly useful for tourists wishing to travel through the city centre without a car, according to In Your Pocket.
