Cape Town has been faced with water cuts weekly. This coming week, residents need to brace as another planned maintenance is scheduled.

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate unveiled their plan for vital maintenance and fortifying water supply infrastructure.

While long-term benefits are expected, residents should brace for temporary water disruptions during these crucial upgrades.

Above that, the water supply is expected to be interupted from tomorrow 11 December to 15 December/

AREAS TO BE AFFECTED IN CAPE TOWN BY WATER INTERRUPTIONS

The South African previously reported that the scheduled maintenance work encompasses several neighborhoods, each with a specific timeline and purpose.

In Fairview Heights (Somerset West), the main water supply will be temporarily shut off from 10:00 until 17:00 on Tuesday, 12 December 2023.

The focus of this interruption is the installation of a water meter on the supply network serving the area.

In Macassar Village, bordered by Bermuda and Link Roads, the main water supply halts from 7:30 to 17:30 for a housing project.

This interruption connects a new housing project phase, affecting Shell and Engen garages near the N2.

Southfield and Plumstead residents face intermittent water disruptions on Tuesday,from 9:00 to 17:00.

This disruption is part of the maintenance team’s efforts to repair and replace valves and fire hydrants on the water supply network in the area.

Affected roads:

  • Victoria Road
  • Hobhouse Road
  • Banier Street

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, water supply to Lympleigh, Southfield, Gabriel, Pluto, Silverton, and Medway Roads in Plumstead will pause from 9:00 to 17:00.

The interruption is for repairing and replacing valves and fire hydrants in these specified areas.

These initiatives form a crucial part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance and upgrade program. Addressing unaccounted-for water and ensuring the long-term continuity of the city’s water supply.

THE CITY APOLOGISES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED

The City acknowledges the potential inconvenience these disruptions may cause. It also expresses gratitude for residents’ understanding and cooperation during this critical phase of infrastructure upgrades.

“The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused,” said the City of Cape Town.
