Thugs break in and vandalised an East London secondary school for the third time on the eve of the schools opening today causing damaged worth millions of rands.

This is the third time in three months that thugs break in to the Alphendale Secondary School in East London and vandalised the property.

They have stolen essential teaching equipment and vandalised the property, even ripping out electrical cables from the walls..

The also caused terrible damage to the school’s infrastructure.

Community activist Schalk van der Sandt said the cost of the break in has totaled at least R12 million.

“Satan sends his troops to finish Alphandale School before opening,’ Van de Sandt said.

He said these thugs were out to steal the future of the learners.

“I say this is deliberate. They want to disadvantage our children.”

“They don’t just break in and steal the tools and equipment, but they also damaged the walls by ripping out copper pipes and electricity cables from the walls.

“How are the children returning to these classrooms,” an angry Van der Sandt said.

He said the first break in at the school was in November, then again in December, causing damaged of at least R10 million.

“The latest breaking was over the weekend and the cost is already estimated at R1.5 million,” van der Sandt said.

We have a meeting with the leadership of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Education to try and address these problems.

They are after the copper.”

He said they are organizing a march to the East London Magistrate court to appear to the courts to have stricter sentences for these thugs.

‘If you start breaking in schools and churches and you vandalising our sports facilities, it shows you have no respect for us.
