Footage recorded via a dashcam captured the moment Lewis Hamilton’s old Zonda V12 supercar was involved in a crash in Conwy in North Wales.

Last week it was reported that the Pagani Zonda 760 LH worth close to R30 million was involved in a serious crash in a tunnel in Wales, according to Motor1.com.

The seven-time world champion bought the V12-powered supercar 11 years ago. The ultra rare car is set to be one of a handful of iterations of the 760 range and is the only unit fitted with a manual gearbox.

The car has changed hands since then and footage of a crash featuring the car has emerged on social media. The incident took place in the Penmaenbach tunnel after the driver seemingly gave too much gas.

The 7.3-litre V12 car hits the left wall of the tunnel before ricocheting off the opposite wall and then comes to a halt in the middle of the road.

A post by Ethan Gale of ethang.supercarphotographer on Instagram said: “Very sad day in the motoring world this evening. A car I never thought I would see. Ever since seeing this on YouTube driving around Monaco back in the day, it’s always been a dream car to tick off the list. Late this afternoon this Pagani Zonda 760 LH previously owned by Lewis Hamilton had crashed in the Penmaenbach tunnel, Conwy, North wales. Hopefully the car gets a full restoration and is back on the road in the future.”
