A university professor is facing calls to be fired following remarks she made that were considered anti-white and by extension, racist.

Brittney Cooper, a professor of women’s and gender studies and Africana studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, US, addressed the history of colonialism during a discussion in September about critical race theory with the Root Institute.

“I think that white people are committed to being villains in the aggregate,” Cooper said during the online conference.

Cooper: There’s no ‘sufficient’ solution to white supremacy

According to Brittney Cooper, white people are corrupt because they don’t trust society enough to redistribute power to diverse groups of people.

“You know, their thinking is so murky and spiritually bankrupt about power that they fear this really existentially letting go of power because they cannot imagine another way to be,” Cooper said.

She also says there is no sufficient solution to ending white supremacy.

“The thing I want to say to you is, we got to take these motherf—— out,” she said, but quickly clarified that she “doesn’t believe in a project of violence” because in the end, “our souls suffer from that and I do think that some of this is a spiritual condition.”

Further speaking on white supremacy, Cooper added that she “fundamentally believes that things that have a beginning have an ending.”

“All things that begin in white folks are not infinite and eternal, right? They ain’t gonna go on for infinity and infinity. And that’s super important to remember,” she said.
