A 35-year-old man will serve 10 years in prison after admitting to beating a pit bull puppy, stabbing it 50 times and stuffing it into a suitcase while the poor dog was barely holding onto life.

A lawyer for Brendan Evans, from Florida in the United States (US), say he agreed to plead guilty four years after the attack on the pit bull named Ollie. The dog died two days after being discovered, The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

HEFTY SENTENCE FOR ‘ANIMAL SERIAL KILLER’

According to the publication, Evans had initially denied any involvement in the puppy’s savage attack, however investigators found cat paws and rats with severed heads in his freezer, blood stains in his bathroom and dried blood and animal fur in his oven. The gruesome discovery pointed to the man possibly being an animal serial killer.

He has been in jail since being arrested in 2017 and was initially charged with 17 counts of animal cruelty, however prosecutors dropped 15 in exchange for the guilty plea.

Ollie was found by a couple who had gone out for a late-night walk in October 2017. He received medical care but later died of cardiac arrest. Thousands of dollars which had been raised for his medical bills via GoFundMe were instead used as a reward to help find his attacker. It wasn’t long before police found Evans and arrested him after linking his DNA to the suitcase.
