A man who allegedly used a saw to decapitate his adoptive mother before setting her on fire, has been arrested, the Marietta Times reports.
According to the publication, 34-year-old Lionel Justin Gore admitted to murdering his mother, Diane Gore, inside her home in Ohio, the United States (US) on Saturday, 6 November 2021.
“I cut her head off and set her on fire,” Gore reportedly told authorities.
LIONEL GORE MADE NEPHEW WITNESS KILLING
Another troubling part of the story is that Lionel Gore made his six-year-old nephew watch as he committed the gruesome act. The boy told authorities that he witnessed his uncle cutting his grandmother’s neck before setting their house on fire. The little boy said he had to crawl out because of the smoke.
Diane’s sister, who was outside the home when first responders arrived to the scene, said that when she arrived, she saw Gore (Diane’s son) coming out of the home covered in blood. According to an affidavit, he said “Get out of the way or I’ll kill you next,” then drove away.
She said she tried to enter the home, but couldn’t because of the fire. Diane’s body was found severed inside the home, in the master bedroom.
According to the local sheriff’s office, it got into a car chase with Gore as he tried to escape, and took him into custody after he hit two officers’ vehicles. He was then taken to a local hospital, where he was interviewed by detectives. He told authorities he killed his mother because the Holy Spirit told him she was the devil.
