Yikes! US President Joe Biden has gone viral after he was seen on video referring to a journalist as “a son of a bitch” on a hot microphone on Monday, 24 January 2022.
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy had asked Joe Biden a question about inflation a White House photo-op.
“Do you think inflation is a political liability ahead of the midterms?,” Doocy asked.
Well, Biden, who sometimes lacks a politician’s filter, replied: “No, it’s a great asset. More inflation. What a stupid son of a bitch,” likely prompting panic among his White House communications staffers.
The response was included in an official White House transcript.
Just hours after the incident, Doocy said on Fox News that Biden called his phone shortly after their exchange to apologise to him for his remark.
“Within about an hour of that exchange, he called my cell phone and he said, ‘It’s nothing personal, pal… He cleared the air, and I appreciated it. We had a nice call,” he said.
Doocy said he told Biden he plans to continue asking him unexpected questions, and that the President responded positively to the comment.
Doocy had said he had asked Biden about inflation because the President, when asked about Russia and Ukraine, said he wouldn’t take any questions that were off-topic. According to Doocy, other reporters “had to tell me that he said it because I couldn’t hear anything over the shouting from (White House staff telling press to leave the room).”
“I don’t need anybody to apologize to me. He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking! I think that’s enough. That’s enough. So we can move on. We can now move forward. There will be years- three to seven years of opportunities to ask him about different stuff,” he added.
Biden has grown increasingly frustrated when facing tough questions publicly in recent days.
Well, something similar occurred in 2009: Then president Barack Obama called rapper Kanye West a “jackass” during an interview with CNN.
