Two-year-old airlifted in Thatchfield drowning incident

A two-year-old boy had to be airlifted after drowning in a private pool in one of the estates in Thatchfield, Centurion.

A two-year-old boy was airlifted after drowning in a residential pool in Thatchfield, Centurion. 

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a drowning incident at an upmarket housing estate. 

TWO-YEAR-OLD DROWNS IN RESIDENTIAL POOL

Emer-G-Med said reports from the scene were that a two year old boy was found to have drowned in a private swimming pool and was in a critical condition. 

Several advanced life support interventions were needed to stabilise him before he was airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.

ANOTHER MINOR DIES IN MIDRAND POOL

Another two-year-old child was declared dead following a fatal drowning at a residence in President Park in Midrand on Friday, 11 March.

According to ER24, paramedics arrived at 12h20 to find the Provincial Services already in attendance. 

“A two-year-old child was found lying near the poolside. Unfortunately, nothing could be done, and the child was declared dead by the Provincial paramedic.”

It is understood that the child had been missing for a short time before being found and pulled from the pool by other residents on the property.

“The exact details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” ER24 said.
