We hope you’re hungry, because Time Out Market Cape Town has officially opened its doors the the public at the V&A Waterfront today.

The market feature 13 home-grown and local chefs and restaurateurs, three bars and one stage where guests can enjoy a curated mix of authentic, proudly South African and global cuisine.

A part of the 13 chefs who have taken stage at the market, diners can look forward to:

  • Chef Bertus Basson’s De Vrije Burger;
  • MLILO by Chef Vusi Ndlovu;
  • The Melting Pot Seafood by Chef John Van Zyl;
  • Unframed Ice Cream by Yann Rey;
  • Chef duo Matt Van Den Berg and Carla Schulze with How Bao Now;
  • Peter Tempelhoff’s Ramenhead;
  • Chefs Anwar Abdullatief and Yolani Abrahams’s Barakat;
  • Eugene Smith’s YARD;

How to order, pay and collect

According to Time Out, the bustle of the Market may seem like a lot to take in at first, but ordering food and drinks is super easy. Here’s how:

Decide and place your order:

Take your time and decide what you want to eat, then place your order and pay at each venue’s till point.

How to pay:

Time Out Market Cape Town is a cashless space, meaning that there are no ATMs on site and cash is not accepted anywhere in the Market. All venues accept most major credit and debit cards. So, swipe, swipe, swipe!

Wait and then collect:

Once you’ve ordered and paid, you will be given a personal buzzer that alerts you when your order is ready. When your buzzer goes off, collect your food, grab a seat and dig in!

The market officially opens today, Friday, 17 November 2023 at 11:00. Thereafter, opening times will be Sunday to Wednesday, from 11:00 to 22:00, and Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 to 23:00.
