From 14:00 on Wednesday afternoon, Tito Mboweni begins the unfancied task of delivering South Africa’s Mid Term Budget Speech. Expect our already-tightened belt to take up another notch, as the new finance minister attempts to navigate the tricky economic environment.

Verulam accused’s links to ISIS

It emerged in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court that a group of men accused of a string of urban terror attacks allegedly tried to extort $100‚000 (R1.4-million) from various businesses in and around Durban to carry out ISIS-inspired activity. The bail hearing has been suspended until Thursday.

VBS Debate

The collapse of VBS Mutual Bank made it to Parliament on Tuesday, where the EFF had to staunchly deny any involvement in the systematic looting of the institution.
