Durban: Missing chef found screaming for help at Ballito construction site

A missing chef, Chris Kruger, has been found alive in Ballito. He spent the storming night in the wilderness after his car got stuck in the sand.

Chris Kruger (36), the missing chef from Ballito, Durban, must have kissed Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers in deep appreciation for saving his life on Tuesday morning.


According to the story details, Kruger had told his family his was going out for target practice with his air rifles at a local construction site – but failed to return home on the same day.

“His family searched for him throughout the night and contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance this morning after they failed to locate him,” RUSA said.

The rescue team was informed by the family that Kruger was driving a white Mazda 2.

“The RUSA Helicopter lifted off due to the area being inaccessible after last night’s downpour. The Pilot In Command and Crew spotted Kruger’s white Mazda 2 in an opening.”

“The vehicle was stuck in the sand. He was standing outside the vehicle waving his arms for assistance. Kruger who spent the night in the storm, screaming for help…”


The private security company added to reveal that the missing chef in Ballito had suffered an injury on his back after he had tried to lift the roof of his car – after it got stuck in the sand.

“He injured his back attempting to lift the front of his vehicle. He was flown back to RUSA Headquarters where Paramedics were standing by to treat him for his injuries and dehydration.

“His firearms were retrieved from the vehicle (picture 4) and handed in for safekeeping. His vehicle will be salvaged at a later stage.”


Elsewhere in the city, A freak accident of a construction site wall collapse tragically killed one worker and left five others injured on Monday.

According to the report, the tragedy struck at a construction site when a beam simply capitulated to injure workers.

“A construction worker sadly lost his life when a structural collapse occurred in La Lucia earlier today,” Marshall Security said.

“Five other workers were also injured as they were trapped under the rubble, two of which had sustained serious injuries, and were transported to hospital for medical care.”
