A German court issued an arrest warrant for the former CEO of scandal-ridden retailer Steinhoff International Holdings NV, Markus Jooste.

On Wednesday, Tsireledzo Ndou, the former legal representative of serial rapist Thabo Bester, appeared in court on a rape charge.

The submersible carrying five people to see the remains of the Titanic at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean is still missing despite a massive search operation. 

Desiree Baartman, whose ex-husband reported her missing earlier this month, was found dead in a Gqeberha stormwater drain on Tuesday night.

And lastly, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened an inquest docket related to Tina Joemat-Pettersson’s death. This means it is likely that the late Member of Parliament (MP) did not die from natural causes. However, inquests are opened when the police do not suspect foul play at the time of death.

A German court issued an arrest warrant for former chief executive officer (CEO) of scandal-ridden retailer Steinhoff International Holdings NVMarkus Jooste.

According to Bloomberg, this comes after he failed to show up for trial in the country.

A warrant was issued a fortnight ago by the Regional Court of Oldenburg after Jooste failed to turn up for his trial on 18 April this year.

Rape case against Thabo Bester’s former lawyer postponed

Tsireledzo Ndou appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on a rape charge a day after he withdrew from representing serial rapist and murderer Thabo Bester in the same court.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Ndou is charged with attempted rape and assault. He was granted R1000 bail earlier this year.

On Wednesday, 21 June, he appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court, and the matter was postponed to 7 July for further investigation, per SABC News.

Here is what we know about the missing Titanic submersible

The submersible carrying five people to see the remains of the Titanic at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean is still missing despite a massive search operation. 

On Wednesday, the Ocean Gate Expeditions confirmed that sounds had been emitted in the search area where the Titan submersible disappeared.

Missing woman found in drain, ex-husband charged with murder

The body of Desiree Baartman was found in a stormwater drain in Gqeberha on Tuesday night, 20 June. She was reported missing by her ex-husband Johnny Baartman earlier this month.

Before the discovery of Desiree’s body, Johnny was arrested after police investigations at their home found that there were signs of possible foul play.

The estranged couple continued to live together after their divorce. Johnny reported Desiree missing on Wednesday, 14 June. A few days later, forensic experts scoured the house, and based on the preliminary analysis, the ex-husband was detained for questioning.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened an inquest docket related to Tina Joemat-Pettersson’s death. This means it is likely that the late Member of Parliament (MP) did not die from natural causes. However, inquests are opened when the police do not suspect foul play at the time of death.
