Eskom CEO André de Ruyter POISONED the day after his resignation

Eskom CEO André de Ruyter survived an attempt on his life after an assassin reportedly laced his coffee with cyanide a day after he resigned as Eskom CEO.

According to a report by EE Business Intelligence De Ruyter confirmed the attempt on his life, which took place on Tuesday, 13 December 2022, a day after he submitted his resignation as CEO to the Eskom chairman, Mpho Makwana, but before this became publicly known on 14 December 2022.

Current licence card printing machine to be decommissioned in 2023

The printing machine that produces the current driving licence cards will be decommissioned in 2023 as South Africa will trial a new driving licence card in 2023.

This comes as Transport minister Fikile Mbalula announced at the end of last year that the current driving licence cards would be phased out.

Former apartheid-era minister Adriaan Vlok has died

Former apartheid-era Law and Order Minister Adriaan Vlok died Sunday at Unitas Hospital in Centurion.

According to reports, Vlok passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning at the age of 85 following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Driver flees scene after killing three children in Salvokop, Pretoria

The driver of the BMW sedan that ploughed into several pedestrians killing three children and injuring four others in Salvokop, Pretoria allegedly fled the scene. 

The horrific accident happened near a traffic circle on 6th and Koch Street at Salvokop in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon, 7 January 2023. 

According to emergency service, Emer-G-Med, the BMW sedan was found to have left the roadway, striking seven pedestrians and killing three of them.

School terms 2023: Year starts for these FIVE provinces THIS week

Preparations have begun in earnest for schools to reopen around the country – as early as this coming week for five of the nine provinces.

The Department of Basic Education has published the 2023 school calendar which begins on Wednesday, 11 January 2023 for learners at inland schools, while coastal schools will start a week later on Wednesday, 18 January.

According to BusinessTech, the 2023 school year will comprise 199 school days across the four terms, with 32 days set aside for school holidays and eight public holidays in between.
