WATCH: Beloved young couple killed in HORRIFIC truck accident

Sjo! A beloved young couple was killed in a HORRIFIC truck accident on Friday in Lydenburg. A truck’s brakes failed before it crashed into at least 10 cars.

The couple, Dewald and Izanie, were leaving the Heads Shopping Centre and driving around the traffic circle when the truck hit their vehicle.

It is believed that the couple died on impact. The accident has left the Lydenburg community reeling.

According to a report by the Lowvelder, it is unclear why the driver did not make use of the 1km emergency sandpit. The sandpit is about 500m from where the truck collided with the couple’s Polo.

Kuilsriver father kills wife and daughter before killing himself

In a terrible family tragedy, a Kuilsriver father shot and killed his wife and daughter before he took his own life. Their son survived the shooting as he managed to flee.

According to reports, Hilton van Zyl first shot and killed his wife, Annastasia, before killing their teenage daughter Cassidy. Their 23-year-old son managed to flee from the house.

Hilton then turned the gun on himself.

Cape Town woman killed by shark at Plettenberg Bay beach

A Cape Town woman was killed at Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday morning, 25 September, in a fatal shark attack.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the local NSRI and South African Police Service (SAPS) were activated at 7:53 after reports of a fatal shark incident at Central Beach.

“The sea rescue craft Eric Stratford was launched.  On arrival at the scene, the body of a believed to be 39-year-old female from Cape Town was recovered from the water and brought to the beach,” said Lambinon.

ALL beaches closed in Plettenberg Bay after fatal shark attack

Beaches in the Bitou Municipality remain closed following a fatal shark attack at Central Beach on Sunday morning.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the local NSRI and South African Police Service (SAPS) were activated at 07:53 after reports of a fatal shark incident at Central Beach.

“The sea rescue craft Eric Stratford was launched. On arrival at the scene, the body of a believed to be 39-year-old female from Cape Town was recovered from the water and brought to the beach,” said Lambinon.

The police have opened an inquest docket and the body is in the care of the Western Cape Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.

BREAKING | Eskom confirms load shedding for the week: Here’s when you’ll be in the dark!

Power utility Eskom has published its load shedding schedule for the week ahead – and it’s not great news!

Eskom confirmed that Stage 3 load shedding will continue to be implemented between 00:00 and 16:00 until Thursday, 29 September, while Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented daily during the evening peaks from 16:00 until 00:00.

A further update will be published on Wednesday, 28 September – or as soon as there are any significant changes, Eskom confirmed.
