It is a weekend of horror and deaths in Gauteng taverns as reports emerge of a shooting incident at a Katlehong tavern where two people were killed.

Four people have been shot dead, while eight others were wounded during a shooting incident at a tavern in Sweetwaters, Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, at least 14 people have been reportedly shot and killed at a tavern in Soweto in Gauteng, while four remain in critical condition in hospital.

An underage driver was killed on Pretoria Road in Silverton, Pretoria East in a high-impact collision on Sunday morning.

Tavern shootings: Terrorism fears raised, as Bheki Cele branded ‘moronic’

The deaths of 18 people in two separate tavern shootings overnight have elicited a strong response from a number of political representatives, with the EFF going so far as to label the incidents as ‘acts of terrorism’. Legal journalist Karyn Maughan also raised similar concerns.

At least 14 people have been reportedly shot and killed at a tavern in Soweto, Gauteng while four remain in a critical condition in hospital.

Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela told eNCA that primary investigations suggest that people were enjoying themselves in the tavern and suspects came in and just shot at the people randomly.

BREAKING: At least 14 people shot and killed at a tavern in Soweto

At least 14 people have been reportedly shot and killed at a tavern in Soweto in Gauteng while four remain in a critical condition in hospital.

According to reports, the incident happened at a tavern in Nomzamo section in the early hours of Sunday, 10 July.

The exact age of the people who were shot is not yet know yet but police have confirmed the incident.

Four dead, eight wounded in Pietermaritzburg tavern shooting

Four people have been shot dead while eight others were wounded during a shooting incident at a tavern in Sweetwaters, Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal. 

The incident reportedly happened on Saturday night at 20:30 while a group of people were having drinks. 

According to police, a vehicle arrived and parked outside the tavern. Two males jumped out of the vehicle and fired random shots at the patrons when they entered the tavern. 

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala Nqobile Gwala said  a total of twelve people were shot; two people were declared dead at the scene while two others reportedly died in hospital.

It is a weekend of horror and deaths in Gauteng taverns as reports emerge of a shooting incident at a Katlehong tavern where two people were killed.

eNCA reports that four gun-wielding men entered the Mputlane Inn Tavern on Friday night. They demanded a firearm and began shooting randomly at patrons.

Six people were shot, two died at the scene and two were taken to hospital.

Underage driver tragically killed in horrific crash in Pretoria East

An underage driver has been killed on Pretoria Road in Silverton, Pretoria East in a high-impact collision on Sunday morning. 

Two vehicles were involved in a high-impact collision, with one of the vehicles veering off into the centre median and smashing into a  metal pole.
