Bongani Ntazi who is accused number 2 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trail has been denied bail.

Ntazi bail application

He appeared at the Pretoria High Court this morning for his bail application judgement. He is one of the accused in the Meyiwa murder trial.

Judge Audrey Ledwaba said Ntanzi did not prove exceptional circumstances to secure bail.

The judge also said Ntanzi failed to prove it would be in the interest of justice to grant him bail.

Bongani Ntanzi denies he was one of the men involved in the murder of the Orlando Pirates and Bafana star Senzo Meyiwa.

According to the SABC, In October last year, Bongani Ntanzi who is accused number 2 applied for bail, citing certain circumstances.

He is one of five men accused of killing the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

Ntanzi maintains that he’s been framed for the murder and that there are compelling reasons why he should be granted bail.

Meyiwa was gunned down at singer Kelly Khumalo’s house in Vosloorus, South-East of Johannesburg, in October 2014.

Meyiwa murder trail

Under fire presiding judge Tshifiwa Maumela postponed the Meyiwa trial with an understanding that whoever is involved in it shall keep their diaries open as the trial will sit again from the 5th – 15th of June 2023. 

Timothy Thobane confirmed that accused 1 and 2 are no longer his clients and that he will continue to represent accused 3 and 4 while Advocate Zandile Mshololo will still represent accused 5.
