91-year-old woman attacked and robbed in Edenburg: Suspect nabbed
The victim suffered serious injuries to her head and face and was hospitalised in Bloemfontein. A 33-year-old man was arrested in Edenburg.

A 33-year-old suspect was arrested for allegedly assaulting an elderly woman in Edenburg, Free State, on Thursday, 27 April. The man allegedly robbed the victim’s house too.
ELDERLY WOMAN ATTACKED IN EDENBURG
The elderly woman, aged 91, was in her bedroom when an unknown suspect entered the room after he gained access to the house by forcing open the kitchen door.
“Without saying anything, he assaulted her and fled the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries to her head and face. She was taken to a hospital in Bloemfontein,” said South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Lorraine Earle.

The police searched for the suspect and made a breakthrough on Thursday night. The 33-year-old was arrested in Edenburg and found in possession of some of the stolen items from the house.
The man is expected to appear before the Edenburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of assault GBH, housebreaking and theft.
