The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) administrates all South Africa’s social grant payments. Social grants include the SRD Grant, the Disability Grant, the Older Persons (Pensioners) Grant, and the War Veterans’ Grant. Other grants, like the Child Support Grant, can also help South Africans who need it.
Social grant amounts are increasing this year.

SASSA: Social grant increases for 2024
The South African Social Security Agency have announced its social grant increases for the year.
Changes take effect on 1 April, 2024.
Here are the new amounts for every social grant.
SASSA Older Persons Grant
The SASSA Older Persons Grant is also called the Pensioners Grant. It provides retirement age South Africans with support.
According to their payout details, this social grant’s new amount is: R2180 + R20.
SASSA War Veterans Grant
The War Veterans Grant is for South Africans who served in armed forces. It’s one of the lesser common South African social grants.
Its new amount is listed as: R2180 + R20.
SASSA: Disability Grant
The SASSA Disability Grant is for disabled South Africans.
Anyone can apply for a Disability Grant pending a Means Test. A medical assessment is also done to see if you qualify.
Disability Grants are now R2, 180.
SASSA: Care Dependency Grant
The Care Dependency grant is for specific conditions and households.
SASSA lists this grant as R2, 180.
SASSA: Foster Child Grant
The SASSA Foster Child Grant is for foster children.
Guardians and parents must apply for this social grant.
Information lists this grant as: R1, 180.
Child Support Grant & Top-Up
The Child Support Grant increases to: R530.
Child Support Top-Up Grants are now: R530 + R260.
Grant In-Aid Grant
The In-Aid Grant has increased to: R530.
This grant is for carers and guardians who need additional or extra assistance.
