On Tuesday, 22 August news broke that former Carte Blanche investigative journalist Derek Watts passed away in Johannesburg.

Thousands of messages with ‘RIP Derek Watts’ have been shared across social media.

Watts was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022 and in July 2023 decided to step away from presenting on Carte Blanche after 35 years, according to TimesLive.

We thought a good way to remember TV personality was by sharing the viral Castle Lite ad that Watts starred in last year.

The ad plays on South Africa’s perception of Watts being a serious person, based on his job as an investigative reporter.

However, the ad takes a twist after he has a drink and lets loose on the dance floor.
