Rand Water cancels 30-hour shutdown in THESE parts of Tshwane

Rand Water has cancelled its 30-hour shutdown that was scheduled for 30 – 31 July and would have affected parts of Tshwane.

Potable water supplier Rand Water has cancelled the 30-hour shutdown that would have affected various parts of Tshwane due to unforeseen circumstances.

The shutdown was scheduled to take place at 05:00 on 30 July to 11:00 on 31 July 2023.

RAND WATER CANCELLS TSHWANE SHUTDOWN

The City of Tshwane previously said the water utility’s technicians will conduct repairs on leaks at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant and also replace valves at both the Palmiet Booster Station and the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant.

Rand Water reservoirs such as Klipriviersberg, Klipfontein, Brakfontein and Hartebeesthoek would have been affected by the shutdown.

Rand Water said customers will be notified as soon as the decision is taken to continue with the work.

MUNICIPALITIES OWE BILLIONS OF RANDS

Recently, Rand Water recently revealed that The bulk water supplier said it is facing a significant challenge concerning outstanding debts owed by various municipalities and is deeply concerned by the escalating debts owed to it and the failure to respect bulk water purchase and debt settlement agreements.

Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said they have relentlessly attempted to resolve and accommodate non-paying municipalities and entered into bilateral agreements through intergovernmental relations forums. However, the situation has not improved and reached a deadlock.

Maroo said Rand Water has no choice but to pursue legal action to enforce adherence to the existing agreements to secure financial stability.
