President Cyril Ramaphosa spent a WHOPPING R3.5 Million on Boran Bull at Hurwitz Farming auction.

RAMAPHOSA SPENT A WHOPPING R3.5 MILLION ON A BORAN BULL

According to African Farming, Ramaphosa has set a new record for the highest price ever paid for a Boran bull. This comes after he bought BH 18 490 Jester for R3.5 million at Hurwitz Farming’s ninth production auction.

The auction, which took place over the weekend, saw a number of other high-priced bulls sell, with the average price for bulls being just over R1 million.

THIS IS A RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST PRICE EVER PAID FOR A BORAN BULL

Female animals also achieved high prices, with 3-in-1 cows selling for an average of just over R277 000.

The highest price was R450 000 for BH 18 35 Dianna with a calf.

The sale also broke another record when 12 semen straws of the bull GF 10 23 Picasso were sold for R88 000 each.

THE TOTAL TURNOVER OF THE AUCTION WAS ABOUT R24 MILLION

Picasso died last year when he was struck by lightning.

The buyer committed to buying another 12 straws for R85 000 each.

The total turnover of the auction was about R24 million.

BORAN CATTLE ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR HARDINESS, FOOD TERPERAMENT AND HIGH MILK

Boran cattle are known for their hardiness, good temperament, and high milk and beef production.
