Pirates say ‘cheers’ to Mabena

Ndumiso Mabena has no future at Orlando Pirates and has been told to find a new club for the upcoming season, according to reports.

Mabena have reportedly opted against triggering their option to extend Mabena’s contract at the club.

Pirates have no need for the striker

He made just appearance under Pirates coach Jose Riveiro in what was a very successful season for the Bucs.

Orlando Pirates announced that Mabena had put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year contract, but SABC Sport understands the additional season was a clause that would be triggered by the club at their discretion.” a SABC SPORT report read.

“Mabena is now set to leave and become a free agent given the Buccaneers have made the decision not to exercise the option.”

Terrence Dzvukamanja, Kermit Erasmus, Eva Nga, Evidence Makgopa and Souaibou Marou are all favoured ahead of Mabena.

The ex-Royal AM captain will now go searching for a new home ahead of the season.

WHO IS BUCS TARGET LEROY KUNDAI BENYU?

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are both after English-born forward Leroy Kundai Benyu, who happens to be a free agent.

Leroy Kundai Benyu is currently a free agent after leaving Iceland’s IBV.

He has been without a club since January but apparently is now at the centre of an off-season Soweto Derby.

After growing up in England at clubs like Ipswich Town and Glasgow Celtic in Scotland, the 25-year-old Zimbabwean international has caught the attention of Amakhosi and the Buccaneers.

According to Soccer Laduma, the central midfielder is keen on moving to Mzansi after leaving Iceland’s IBV as a free agent in January, where he played 18 games.
