The N3 highway in Ashburton, KwaZulu-Natal was once again closed to traffic after three trucks were involved in a collision.

The N3 highway in Ashburton, KwaZulu-Natal has been open after it was closed to traffic earlier on Friday, 12 May following a collision between three trucks.
Fortunately no deaths were reported but only one person sustained serious injuries.
According to Arrive Alive, KwaZulu-Natal Private Ambulance Service responded the accident.
Upon arrival, they found that three trucks had been involved in a collision.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that one patient had sustained serious injuries. Specialised equipment was used to extricate the patient that was entrapped,” Arrive Alive reported.
The patient was reportedly treated on scene before being transported to hospital fir further treatment.

Accidents are becoming more common on the N3 between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. A number of lives have been lost and most recently, five people were killed in a multiple vehicle pile-up on the N3 near Hilton.
According to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport the pile-up involved 22 light motor vehicles, five trucks and eight minibus taxies.
